Project Accountant - Construction Cost Accountant

The Project Accountant/Construction Cost Accountant will provide an initial level of compliance with checks and balance oversight for project specific financial transactions. This role supports the Construction and Property Accounting Departments, and plays a key role in tracking and reporting on each project's financial performance.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Oversee risk management for projects, specifically with subcontractors, review contract amounts, manage the collection of payment verification/lien documentation and proper insurance requirements to mitigate risks, exposures, etc.
Setup initial job budgets, related change orders and process cost transfers. Drive compliance with subcontract and PO processes.
Process monthly client and subcontractor applications for payment.
Review accounts payable to ensure proper general ledger coding.
Review open job commitments and prepare job status reports for management review. Record appropriate accruals as needed on the Balance Sheet.
Lead the accounting on job close out process.
Prepare job cost quarterly/annual open projects summary
Assist in the month end close process and balance sheet account reconciliations.
Assist in the preparation of loan draws, as needed.
Assist the Tax Department with state and local sales and use tax compliance requirements.
Make recommendations to increase operational efficiency and accuracy for project financials. Work closely with the IT Department to ensure system efficiency implementation occurs as needed.
Assists with the preparation of business plans and special projects.
Improves process related to above duties and responsibilities.
Assist accounts payable, process billing (Match/Batch/Code Invoices), job costing, MRP and inventory maintenance, order entry and customer service
Supporting project management operations by tracking project documentation
Clerical accounting functions and handling Document Control procedures and systems
Collaborating with and assisting Estimating team(s) in preparation of proposals
Support business development operations through relationship building and follow up initiatives, tracking all previous and future opportunities.
Maintain a CRM database, updating contact information and ensuring the accuracy of information in order to support sales, marketing and business development initiatives.
Willing to perform additional duties as assigned.
Education / Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field (preferred).

years of related experience; project accounting experience preferred; knowledge of construction, fabrication industry and fixed asset accounting necessary.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Meticulous attention to details and accuracy.
Flexible outlook toward task management.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, especially Excel).
Experience with Computer Ease a plus.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
