The Logistics Manager is responsible to oversee all functions and employees of the Logistics department.
Working relationship :
Reports to Director of Operations.
R eports Generated:
Weekly Spreadsheet used to track shipments and monitor employees load counts and weekly revenues.
Responsible for any and all correspondence written or verbal relating to this department.
Responsibilities:
- Supervision of the day-to-day activities of the Logistics department - Negotiate freight rates for all modes of transportation - Responsible to add new carriers and customers to our business - Assist to define the strategic direction in regards to operations, cost reduction, program improvements and customer service - Works closely with sales and customer service to ensure all customer requirements are supported and fulfilled - Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures to assist in the increase of productivity of the Logistics employees - Call customers to maintain business relationships - Visit customers to further develop relationships - Maintain weekly load count goals that are established by Executive team.
- Continually demonstrate strong leadership and managerial skills in recruiting, selecting, training, motivating, reviewing, coaching, developing, and retaining a high performance Logistics team - Conduct timely and accurate employee performance reviews.
Proactively address performance issues on a continual basis throughout the year.
- Ensure all company policies and guidelines as set forth in the Navajo Companies Guidelines Handbook are followed.
- Foster, promote and build a positive team environment throughout the department.
Summary:
The main goal is to uphold the highest level of service for the Navajo Companies.
The position is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and maintaining economical and efficient transportation services on behalf of Navajo and their customers.
The Logistics Manager must possess proficient oral and written communication skills, problem solving abilities, leadership and team building skills, as well as knowledge about current logistics and transportation issues.
The main objective is to increase revenues and net revenues through an expanding Logistics customer base.
