SPCA Florida is looking for a new team member for Supervisor of Animal Care - Canine Team.
The Canine Team is responsible for the overall care of all canines within our shelter by providing food, water, a clean environment, playful enrichment, and multiple walks through the day to help provide behavioral stimulation.
Job duties include but not limited to the daily cleaning of animal areas, feeding, monitoring animal health, taking on walks, and assisting the public with general information and adoptions.
Must be compassionate and have a positive attitude with good leadership skills.
Must have customer service skills and act as a spokesperson for the organization to promote our purpose and our programs to the general public.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Supervisor:
Ensures the Canine Team staff completes assigned duties, troubleshoots problems, and reports requests and concerns to appropriate parties.
Supervises and is responsible for the success of the canine related programs.
Ensures all canines are exercised and provided enrichment.
Ensures house trained dogs are walked for potty breaks.
Ensures all runs/cages are clean and odor free throughout the day.
Responds to questions relating to specific animals as well as SPCA Florida mission and programs.
Responsible for canine assessment at intake and critical behavior assessment of all canines.
Facilitates interactions between potential adopters.
Completes housekeeping duties such as laundry and dishes as needed.
Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds with assistance and maintain control of dogs as large as 150 pounds with assistance.
Gives baths and whatever other grooming is needed for the well-being of the animal.
Reports signs of illness, disease, injury or unusual activity to appropriate staff.
Completes disease control and cleaning of public areas daily and ongoing throughout the day.
Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the department they supervise.
Throughout your shift, plan and prioritize to stay on task and schedule Must be compassionate, LOVE ANIMALS, and have a positive attitude.
Performs other duties as required and assigned.
Supervisory
Responsibilities:
Directly manages six (6) subordinates.
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.
Use fair communication, direction, feedback, and oversight in all interactions with your team to ensure the highest possible cohesiveness, professionalism and morale.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications:
High School diploma and two (2) years of professional experience caring for animals; or any equivalent combination of training or experience.
Dog care experience especially in a shelter or commercial setting (preferred) Ability to multi-task, prioritize and hustle A genuine love and compassion for all dogs, regardless of breed, size, age, condition, etc.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
