Complete Description Education:
High school diploma or GED.
Completion of a Medical Assistant program (or medical military training).
Medical Assistant Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistant (AAMA) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) or Certified as an Orthopedic Technician within 3 month of employment is required.
Two years experience in the medical field.
Experience:
Prefer previous experience as an Orthopedic Technician.
2:
3years experience with hand/upper extremity casting and/or splinting required.
Other Requirements:
CPR certification to be completed within three months of employment.
Responsibilities:
:
Applies plaster and fiberglass casts, splints, braces, slings, collars, air splints, and other Orthopedic devices.
:
Assists office staff with patient flow and assists with dressing changes and removal of sutures.
:
Removes casts and other appliances.
:
Fits and instructs patients in the use of braces, crutches, canes, walkers, and other appliances.
