Job Description:
Job Summary The estimator is responsible for preparation of proposals including structural steel, miscellaneous metals, detailing, installation/erection and various other special conditions.
Estimator must be proficient in take:
off of materials, shop labor, field labor, equipment requirements and have the knowledge to understand and foresee difficult and complex fabrication and erection scenarios and make adjustments to the proposal to account for them.
Principal Duties 1) Evaluate all contract documents including specifications, drawings, general conditions, special provisions and if required project site 2) Determine quantities and types of member required to complete the project scope 3) Determine which shop operations, and the total time for each, that will be required to complete the project scope in the most efficient manner possible 4) Determine practical and efficient erection schemes and the labor force and equipment required to complete them explanation and if allowances or exclusions have been made final scope of work and assign values to specific items within the proposal that may be revised or removed Preferred Experience and Skills 1) Minimum of 3 years estimating experience in structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabrication and erection 2) High school diploma (Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred) 3) Project Management and/or Detail Management experience preferred 4) Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel required 5) Working knowledge of Fabsuite estimating software is beneficial 6) Good language skills, both written and oral Source:
