2 years experience in the medical coding field, or coding certificate from an accredited school and :
1 year experience.
Must have good knowledge of medical terminology, ICD9 and CPT codes.
Other Requirements:

Must be able to utilize 10:
key data entry function.

Typing rate of 45 wpm is required.

Must be able to plan and prioritize workflow and produce an acceptable volume of work accurately.
Responsibilities:

Prepares charge tickets for Data Entry staff and runs hash tapes for completed batches making sure the total of hashed procedures matches the total indicated on batch in billing system.

Communicates coding changes to physicians; offices.

Reviews TES work file on a daily basis and makes necessary changes to release charges to billing system.

date on coding issues by attending seminars, reviewing educational materials and keeping binder of job related information.
